Eligibility & usage
IPv6 PI is for use within your own organization's infrastructure — office networks, SaaS platforms, public Wi-Fi hotspots, point-to-point links, and time-limited purposes such as conferences or research.
It cannot be used for ISP broadband, colocation services, or assigning subnets to other entities.
Prefix size
The default assignment is /48. Larger blocks require documented justification for additional sites or routing requirements.
How to apply
- Order RIPE IPv6 PI in our store.
- Open a support ticket with the information below.
- We review your submission and forward the application to RIPE NCC.
- On approval, your IPv6 PI assignment is registered.
Required information
- Applicant identity — legal entity (name, registered address, registration number, certificate) or individual (full name, address, ID number, ID copy).
- RIPE objects — your
org,admin-c,tech-candmnt-byhandles. - Prefix size — confirm what you request (default /48).
- Routing reasons — any specific routing requirements.
- Addressing plan — intended use per prefix.

Processing time
We typically respond within one business day. After submission to RIPE NCC with complete, compliant documentation, approval usually takes 2–7 business days; complex cases may take longer.
